New Music: Beyoncé – ‘I Was Here’

Well, it’s certainly been Beyoncé mania here at the House of Sonnie, but it is Bey season and I’m sure the stans don’t mind! But photo shoots and leaked music aside, we still haven’t actually experienced Beyoncé yet. Where are the TV appearances and interviews? Yes, there are some gigs lined up starting with her headlining show at Glastonbury and the BET Awards later tonight, but the album drops in less than 2 days. I know that there will be a ton of promotion following the release, but what about promo leading up to it? I mean you do want people to go out and buy the album and make those first week sales, especially with it already receiving some less than favorable reviews. And with the entire album, including the deluxe edition, leaking almost a month ago, there isn’t the same anticipation we usually see during Bey season.

Having said all that, I’m sure the stans will make sure the album is a success regardless. I just don’t like to see someone as talented as Beyoncé fall into “the album may not be that good, but the stans will still buy it anyway” category. Especially when some of the music is actually quite good. Case & point, ‘I Was Here’, written by legendary songwriter, Diane Warren.

Listen to the track and see what Warren had to say about Bey after the jump.

New Music: Beyoncé – ‘End Of Time’

Today’s new music from Beyoncé is ‘End of Time’, not to be confused with Justin Timberlake’s “Until the End of Time” that she sang with Justin on the song’s duet.

Although this era got off to a slow rocky start, you can expect a slew of appearances from Bey starting with her live headlining performance at Glastonbury Festival and the 2011 BET Awards this Sunday.

New Music: Beyoncé – ‘Countdown’

4, 3, 2, 1… Today on the “countdown” to 4, Beyoncé releases ‘Countdown‘ for your listening pleasure. It was composed by The-Dream, S. Taylor, Knowles, Dean, Cainon Lamb, Julie Frost, Michael Bivins, Nathan Morris and Wanya Morris. ‘Countdown‘ is an uptempo record featuring staccato horns and steel drums. The song’s hook samples the countdown from Boyz II Men’sUhh Ahh” as Beyoncé interlaces additional lyrics between each count from ten to one.

New Music: Beyoncé – ‘Love On Top’ + Bonus Track ‘Dance For You’

Five more days and counting to the release of Beyoncé’s fourth studio album, 4. Today’s new music is ‘Love On Top’, which is a mid-tempo “feel good’ kind of record co-written by The-Dream. As a matter of fact, Dream co-wrote and/or produced several songs on the album.

As a bonus, we also have Beyoncé’s ‘Dance For You’, which is included on the Deluxe Edition of the album.

Take a listen after the jump.

New Music: Beyoncé – ‘Start Over’ + Should Bey Brace For Album To Bomb?

For day seven on the “countdown” to 4, Beyoncé releases new single ‘Start Over’, which according to the NY Post Page Six, is exactly what Bey’s record label, Columbia, wants her to do.

“They’re very nervous about Beyoncé’s new record,” an industry insider told us. “It doesn’t have the hit songs that her fans are used to. They asked her to make changes, but she said no”.

Stripes, Animal Prints, Polka Dots… It’s Nicki Minaj! Plus Mary J. Blige Ft. Nicki – ‘Feel Inside’

There’s so much going on here, I don’t even know where to begin. Nicki Minaj was spotted dining at Hollywood hot spot restaurant Katsuya last night with her hypeman (and rumored boyfriend) Sarafee Samuel. Ironically, Nicki was toned down from her usual “Barbie” attire but still managed to wear about a hundred different colors with stripes, zebra print and polka-dotted shoes. Besides my eyes being thoroughly confused, Nicki is still cute with this fresh-faced laid back look.
